Tri-Sprintec?
Q. This past Tuesday I discontinued my birth control (Tri-Sprintec) after taking it for only a week and a day. I stopped my last period on the 7th of June and started birthcontrol that Sunday, the 8th. This morning (Friday and 3 days of not being on Tri-Sprintec) I started to bleed heavily and still am to this moment. Is this normal to bleed after 3 days of not being on birthcontrol? As I noted before I was only on it for a week and a day, so not that long.

A. Well, brith control is designed to keep you safe for 3 weeks, and then the last week is sugar-pills...so you'll have a period. If your body thinks it's over with the birth control cycle, then it's possible you'll have your period just after you quit taking them... Contact your Dr. to be sure! Why did you suddenly stop?

Tri sprintec?
Q. this is the generic brand of birth control. any one else want to share experiences if they were on tri sprintec?? and it makes me feel sick when i take it . any one else the same?

A. I'm on Trinessa which I think is the brand name (same drug ingredients, different price). I haven't had any bad experiences with the drug. I used to be on Ortho Tri-Cyclen...no side effects with either pill. If it makes you sick, you should probably call your doctor and have him/her switch you to a different pill.

Can tri-sprintec birth control cause my acne to increase?
Q. I have been on tri-sprintec for almost a week now, it has been five days, I wanted to know if I should be nervous about the fact my face is breaking out. My face was relatively clear before I went on the birth control even though I have always had problems with acne. Should I wait another week before contacting my gyno? Is it normal to break out the first week of taking birth control?
Asked by Kim - Fri Dec 11 10:28:58 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Your hormones will be off for the first few cycles of using the pill while your body is adjusting - you might even get spotting in between periods, for instance, not to mention the occasional acne breakout - so don't bother contacting your doctor unless the problem persists for a few months or is really severe.

Can second hand smoke give me the same side effects as smoking while taking tri-sprintec?
Q. I don't smoke but both my parents do and its impossible to get away from it. I'm 16 and I've been on tri-sprintec for about 5 days and I was put on it for irregular periods. Also does tri-sprintec help with mild acne?

A. No it doesn't give the same side effects . Your parents shouldn't smoke around you though. Tri-spintec will help acne. My daughter was put on it for severe acne and it helped her.

Is Tri-Sprintec the cause of my weight gain and loss of libido?
Q. I'm 20 yrs old. I have been on Tri-Sprintec for about a year now. In the past year, i have gained 10 lbs., lost my sex drive completely, and gained two cup sizes in my breasts. A. All forms of birth control contain hormones which can affect you in many ways. The birth control itself may not have caused you to gain weight, but they may have increased your appetite and you ate more. But really, 10 pounds in a year is not a lot - it's pretty normal especially for your age. Your breasts are growing because that's what they do and will continue to do until you are fully grown (up until you are 25). Actually, the 10 pounds may have mostly been in your breasts anyways. Yes, birth control can cause you to lose your sex drive, and switching prescriptions or stopping any hormone birth control should give you back your sex drive. However, going off birth control will not make those 10 pounds disappear nor will it make your… [cont.]

Can I start taking tri sprintec birth control pills in the middle of my cycle?
Q. I had my last period starting on march 21st. I'm wondering if I can start the pills right now today even though it's in the middle of my cycle.
Asked by clarity - Sun Apr 6 15:50:48 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. You can, It just won't be effective for probably a minimum of 2-4 weeks. And, you may have bleeding during the week you should have your normal period and then the week when the pill makes you have your period. Your cycle will level out easier if you wait till the first Sunday after your period begins.

Do I have to begin taking Tri-Sprintec(generic brand of Ortho TriCyclen) on Sunday or can I start tomorrow?
Q. I just switched from Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo and today was my last day taking an active pill..

A. If you start on sunday, chances are you are going to skip your period this month. Generally when switching or starting a new pill you are suppose finish the old pack w/ the placebo pills at which time you get your period and when the following sunday comes around you start the new pack.

What are all the differences between sprintec and tri-sprintec birth controls?
Q. Anyone know?
Asked by Heather - Thu Aug 21 21:57:52 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Sprintec gives you the same amount of estrogen and progestogen every day you take the active pills. Tri-sprintec gives you 3 different levels of the hormones, depending on the time of the month. This exposes you to fewer hormones than the Sprintec. So may or may not give you fewer symptoms.

A. Odor is quite often associated with yeast infection. You probably should see your Doctor and be checked just to be sure.

I am on Tri-Sprintec birth control and started the white pills today, is it still safe to have sex?
Q. I had unprotected sex today and i was wondering if there is a greater risk of pregnancy on the white pills because they are only placebo. Can you get pregnant when taking the white pills?
Asked by Cnfsd - Mon Jun 15 23:45:46 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. As long as you took the rest of the pills in the pack on time, then you should be proctected during your placebo week. However, make sure you do not go more than 7 days between packs or you will not be protected until you complete at least a full week of pills (full cycle to be sure).

Does Clonazepam interfere with tri sprintec birth control?
Q. I started taking this for possible stress related back pain. I can't find much info on whether this decreases the effectiveness of my birth control. Anyone? Thanks
Asked by Lioness - Tue Feb 2 12:13:22 2010 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Oral contraceptives such as Tri Sprintec (Ethinyl Estradiol) will not be adversely affected by benzodiazepines such as Clonazepam and should not decrease it effectiveness. There is a possible drug-drug reaction in which oral contraceptives, such as the one your currently using, can cause a prolonged half-life in benzodiazepines (Class of antianxiety drugs such as diazepam, clonazepam, chlordiazepoxide, ect). Therefore, you may observe signs of an altered effect. Ethiny Estradiol may also have a higher bioavailability when taken with grapefruit juice due to specific photochemicals called furocoumarins within the juice. This compound decreases the oral contraceptives first-pass metabolism in the liver, thus increasing its bioavailability. [cont.]

Will Tri - Sprintec help my period to regulate normal?
Q. I'm not pregnant. I'm 19 years old. I went to the doctor to get blood test and waiting for the results. He told me it could be of my hormones. My mom gave me Tri - Sprintec to help my period back. I was stress out then I calm down a little. I didn't have my period for four month. I know I shouldn't ask this question. I just want to know what you think about it.

A. One of the best features of any birth control is cycle regulation. So yes, Tri-Sprintec should regulate your period and make it come every four weeks. If it doesn't do so after about 3 months, you should definitely tell your doctor so he can run more tests.

Q. Note: I stopped taking my pills a really long time ago and now I started back on them on Wenesday. I started on my pack during the middle of a 2 week and 2 day cycle. Last night, my period fell and I took the second pill and my period stopped; Wth is going on? Is anyone a doctor or OB-GYN?

A. No but you weren't supposed to start taking the pills until the end of your cycle. That's how mine works. The doctor told me to take my first pill on the sunday after my period had ended..so end of the cycle. If you took yours when you were 2 weeks into it..then you're messing up you're cycle. I'm not a doctor but I think you need to go see one a.s.a.p because you're going to cause damage in the future. Maybe your pill is different then mine...so it was fine to take it 2 weeks into it. But the pill could be too strong of a dosage for you which is causing your period to stop. But either way; go see a doctor.
