Physical....?
Q. I'm not sure if i described this question well but I need to take a physical to get into football. What exactly will they do and test you on? Or What will they do?
Asked by atl_fella7 - Wed May 2 15:50:47 2007 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. You will get a general physical. The doctors will check your reflexes, your breathing, your heart rate, your pulse, and your blood pressure. All to make sure they are normal for a person of your age. They will also check your weight. By doing this the physician certifies that you are healthy enough to face the rigors of training and playing football. Your doctor will most likely have you donate a urine sample and a blood sample for testing. They will look for things like anemia some diseases and drug use. A lot of minor and major problems can come up in a standard physical, like blood in the urine could be a hint for Kidney Stones or a urinary infection. However, if you are a healthy teenager then there is a 90% chance that you… [cont.]

PHysical???
Q. Could you describe the steps that they do at a physical exam?
Asked by Justin H - Mon Jul 28 17:52:04 2008 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Unless your over 40 (and if you were you wouldn't be asking this question) it's possible, but unlikely you'll have your prostate checked so don't let anyone freak you out about that. He'll check your eyes, ears, throat, reflexes, heart rate, and breathing. And of course the hernia exam, though this isn't always done if it's a sports physical. This whole part will take about 30 seconds. You drop your shorts, he cups your tesicles applying pressure upward, turn your head, cough, repeat for the other side. Everyone worries about erections, and they occasionally happen, but usually we're too nervous and it's over so quick that it's not a problem. From personal experience and raising two sons.

What does a physical therapist do, and details about education?
Q. What kinds of things does a physical therapist do? Do you have to have a lot of strength to be a physical therapist, because I'm kind of small. Also, I am a little scared of blood, do physical therapists deal a lot with blood? What kind of education do they have and how long. Is it possible to get a doctorate in physical therapy? Also, what are the classes like? If you could answer some or all of these questions I would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance, you're the best!

A. The primary function of a physical therapist is to evaluate and treat people who have "functional limitations" that affect their daily living. This could be due to pain, weakness, lack of flexibility, decreased balance, etc. A physical therapist evaluates the neuromuscular skeletal system to look for reasons why these things may be happening and provides a "physical therapy diagnosis" and recommends and implements treatments. These treatments may include "gait training" (showing someone how to walk, etc), balance training, manual techniques, exercises, education, stretching, massage and/or modalities. One does not necessarily have to be "strong," but as a general rule, a PT should be able to lift 25# at least occasionally and be able… [cont.]

What two physical properties of water allow it to absorb NaCl and then return to two dif substances again?
Q. The question is this specifically: Since NaCl is soluble in water, trying to determine its density by the water displacement method will not work. (The solid will dissolve in the water, not displace it.) In general, how would you need to change the procedure in order to determine the density of NaCl (or any other water soluble substance). That is, what two physical properties must the liquid being displaced have? I understand that boiling it would seperate the two substances but don't know how that fits into physical properties.
Asked by Kate - Sun Sep 27 15:09:37 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Instead of water, you can use a non-polar organic liquid like benzene to measure the volume of the salt. Salt doesn't dissolve in benzene so you can use benzene displacement to determine the volume of a sample. Now you have the volume and you can weigh the salt to determine the mass, so you can now find the density. Hope this answers your question; just use a non-polar liquid that will not dissolve salt to find your volume. Filtering will separate the liquid from the salt if you want to recover the two compounds.

Is it better to major in Physical Therapy or a broader career field like health science?
Q. I'm in my 2nd semester in a community college. I'm planning to transfer to a 4 year University after my 2nd year. Right now i'm taking pre-requisite classes for physical therapy but i wanted to know if its better to major in Health Science and then later go to physical therapy? Or major in Physical Therapy and become a physical therapist?
Asked by joel - Wed Mar 3 13:12:12 2010 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. You won't be able to major in PT...it's a graduate degree. At best, you can major in "pre-physical therapy", but you could also major in health care sciences. You can major in anything as long as you meet your prerequisites. It may be worth it to get a degree that will allow you more options if you do not get into PT school. For this reason, many PTs major in athletic training, biology, etc.

Whats the difference between physical and chemical weathering?
Q. im trying to study for my midterm tomorrow and i need to know the difference between chemical and physical weathering. examples would be nice.. dumb it down as much as possible haha. and what weather is good for physical weathering. I know chemical weathering occurs most in hot and humid climates but i don't know whats good for physical weathering?
Asked by cgirly37 - Thu Feb 11 20:54:53 2010 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Mechanical or physical weathering involves the breakdown of rocks and soils through direct contact with atmospheric conditions, such as heat, water, ice and pressure. The second classification, chemical weathering, involves the direct effect of atmospheric chemicals or biologically produced chemicals (also known as biological weathering) in the breakdown of rocks, soils and minerals A number of plants and animals may create chemical weathering through release of acidic compounds, i.e moss on roofs is classed as weathering.

What is the difference between physical and special moves in Pokemon?
Q. After the third generation, moves became either physical or special. I know that physical uses attack power and special uses special attack. For instance, how did Fire Punch go from using special attack to attack? How is it decided whether a move becomes physical or special?
Asked by Swiftfire - Thu Mar 11 16:11:43 2010 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Physical Moves uses your pokemon's Attack Stat and the opposing pokemon's Defense Stat for damage calculation. Special Moves uses your pokemon's Special Attack Stat and the opposing pokemon's Special Defense stat for damage calculation. Before the 4th generation physical moves were correspondant to what pokemon type it was. Then during the 4th gen they changed it so that there were essientially two lists of moves. Physical and Special moves. They changed this so that pokemon types do not effect what type of move it is. IE: Fire Punch was changed from a Special Type to a Physical type to because if you were to imagine a actual Fire Punch, it would be a physical move.

What is the difference between a sports physical and a regular physical for a 13 year old male?
Q. I just wanted to know what the difference between a sports physical and a regular physical for a 13 year old male is. I am getting a physical done for track in the next week, so I am wondering what the difference between the two is. Edit: Yes, this is for school. At my school they make you get a physical before you can do any sports.

A. Very little...except when I had my first sports physical for football in high school (at 13 also) it was 1967. All the guys going out for the team went into the gym, formed 4 lines and there was a doctor at the front of the line who spent all of 90 seconds giving us a physical. He checked out eyes, nose, ears and throat. And last...he had us do the "turn your hrad and cough". And since you keep asking if you will have to take off your underwear and not just have the doctor shove his hand down your pants...let me make it clear to you...yes, he will tell you to pull your underwear down to your knees...not to take them off completely. That part of the physical will be over in about 5 seconds.

Q. My sister is 16. She was paralyzed in an accident, she's very thin, she can't use her hands or roll over, and she has to be diapered mainly because she can't control herself. She's still in the hospital but will be coming home soon. What are some good physical therapy exercises or massages to do on her that can reduce the risk of bedsores? She's quadriplegic, I want to help do physical therapy on her daily when she gets home.

A. the key to prevention of bed sores is frequent pressure relief. She should have a good skin relieving cushion in her wheelchair and potentially a quality mattress with skin relieving features. Her PT and dme people can recommend specifics. In bed, she should be repositioned every 2 hours.

What physical evidence supports chimps being closely related to humans?
Q. AP Bio lab, I read online about how orangutans are more closely related, but that doesn't help my lab. I'm comparing the chromosomes between humans and chimps, so what physical evidence supports humans and chimps being closely related?
Asked by Zoey - Thu Dec 10 21:20:49 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. If you're comparing chromosomes, look at the banding patterns (I assume you're looking at karyotypes, and you're not sequencing the DNA or performing hybridization). By the way, you'll notice that chimps have a haploid number of 1n = 24 and humans have 1n = 23. You'll see that our chromosome #2's banding pattern corresponds to two chimp chromosomes.

Obvious physical changes taking places are, it will gett hotter, it will probably dry out especially around the edges. Chemical changes i guess it would lose some of its acidity. Maybe you could look up the chemicals in pinnaple and then see whst happens when they are heated for a better answer. Any way i hop this helped a bit:)

Q. I want to become a physical therapist but what is this physical therapist doctor? I have heard you used to be able to just get a masters degree to be a PT but now I hear you have to get a doctorate degree. Is this true or can you still become a PT with just a masters? This is confusing.
Asked by Keary - Fri Jun 25 13:07:46 2010 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. A medical doctor who specializes in rehab and therapy is a physiatrist. PT is a graduate degree. Currently you can get an MPT or a DPT (Doctor of physical Therapy). The difference is one year. However, if you have not applied to PT school yet, you probably would not be able to get a MPT degree. Everyone is converting to the DPT. There are less than 5 percent of the programs are still MPT. As an employer, I would urge you to get the DPT because if I had 2 new graduates as applicants, I would take the DPT. They had one more year of schooling and clinical experience.

It can either be natural (everyday situation that is spontaneous) or contrived (something set up to show particular physics concept that is non-spontaneous). I am stumped and I don't know what type of phenomenon I can take a picture of that would be good. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks.
