What is the best over the counter drug to use for cramping?
Q. I had the Mirena IUC inserted in me last week and I've been having bad cramps, which is one side effect of the Mirena. What over the counter drug is the most effective for killing the cramp pain I am having?
Asked by unknown - Mon Aug 27 11:40:41 2007 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. I also had the Mirena IUD, and my doc said to take 800mg of Ibuprofen, and also Calcium. It is supposed to be a "smooth muscle' relaxant. Here is some info I found on MotherNature.com Check out calcium. "Does your diet consist mainly of low-calcium foods like fruits and vegetables? Then make a special point of seeking out low-fat yogurt and low-fat milk," recommends James G. Penland, Ph.D., a psychologist with the U.S. Department of Agriculture's (USDA) Human Nutrition Research Center in Grand Forks, North Dakota. At least four different studies have shown that calcium offers strong relief from menstrual cramps. Yet, on average, American women tend to consume only about 600 milligrams of calcium daily. Does the over the counter drug Uristat interfere with birth control?
Q. I was wondering if the over the counter drug Uristat, which helps with UTIs, interfere with birth control.

A. I wouldn't think so but you never know. I've used Uristat and it's never interferred with my birth control (pills; ortho novum). Of course I could've just been lucky too. Either way, you shouldn't have sex when you have a UTI because it could make them worse.

Whats the best over the counter drug to take if you feel like you may be getting sick, like flu symptons?
Q. I woke up feeling like I am getting the flu, scratchy throat, body aches, stuffy head, flushed, all that. I dont feel miserable yet but, I think its coming. Is there an over the counter drug or something that may help reduce or eliminate the symptons?
Asked by Killing Time - Mon Feb 18 10:59:13 2008 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Assuming you have no allergies, you should probably take a multi-symptom medicine like DayQuil or Robitussin. The label will tell you which symptoms the medicine is designed to treat. If you want specifics: - You want something with acetaminophen (the medicine in Tylenol), for headaches, body aches, and fever - You want something with pseudoephedrine hydrochloride for your stuffy head. - You want something with guaifenesin and dextromethorphan hydrobromide if you have a cough and chest congestion. In addition, you may want to try taking Vitamin C tablets, echinacea tablets, and zinc tablets. Some people swear that this reduces the severity and intensity of cold and flu, though there's not much scientific evidence to back this up. Be… [cont.]

If Plan B is an over the counter drug can I just go get it without a perscription?
Q. Plan B is now available as an over the counter drug so does that mean i can just go into the pharmacy and they'll just have it in the family planning aisle or do i still have to ask a pharmacist for it?
Asked by meg f - Sun Nov 30 17:29:24 2008 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments

A. It is kept behind the pharmacy counter because it is both an over the counter and prescription drug. NOT because it is expensive or stolen a lot. If you are 18 or older you can buy it without a prescription. But you do have to provide ID and ask for it at the pharmacy counter. If you are 17 or younger you need a prescription.

Is there an over the counter anti-anxiety/mood enhancing drug that is affective?
Q. I have always suffered from mild cases of anxiety in social situations. I also have suffered from mild cases of depression. Is there a safe, effective, over the counter drug that anyone can recommend? I don't think my issues are serious enough to merit professional help, but I do think addressing this will make life considerably more enjoyable. Thanks so much!
Asked by mahaffeych - Tue Mar 6 07:46:29 2007 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments

A. St. John's Wort (Hypericum) is the only OTC remedy available. It has been shown to be effective in mild to moderate cases of depression and most likely anxiety as well as it functions as a mild SSRI. If you are taking a Rx SSRI it should be avoided as it can lead to serotonin syndrome. Taken alone, it needs to be taken at about 300 or 350mg TID (3X per day) as I recall, so check the strength before you buy it as some manufacturer's don't make it in a high enough strength to be effective.

A. I don't know what will make you dizzy however I can give you a list of over counter drugs that will get you high. Nitrous Oxide, also known as laughing gas. It is short lived, gives you a head rush, and makes you giggle like mad. Diphenhydramine/Dimenhydr inate, whilst not the same drug they are very similiar. They are a delerient and make you go out of your mind, I would advise you stay away from them. Nutmeg, it must be fresh to actually get you high. It too is a delerient and is long lasting, I would also advise you to stay clear of it. DXM, it's in many cough syrups and the affects are at a 300mg/average dosage giddiness, decreased motor skills (as if you where drunk), and may be accompanied by itching and flushed skin. Larger doses… [cont.]

Q. A friend of mine is having a problem with her son. He is using drugs, we just don't know what kind. Is there a over-the-counter drug test that tells you what drugs they are on? We want to check all of them.
Asked by SAD SALLY - Tue Mar 10 20:08:05 2009 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments

A. If the son is over 18, they cannot be tested against their will. The person being tested must agree and sign for it. If it's a child under 18, you may be able to get your doctor to do the test. But there are no over-the-counter tests available for this. If there were, it would have already hit the "underground".

Is there an over the counter drug that will help with calming my nerves down and lower my heart rate?
Q. My blood pressure is normal and i am in good health but my heart rate is sky high.It was like 110bpm just sitting down on a normal day.My hands shake badly sometimes when i'm working on something. Can anyone tell me if there is a otc drug that i can get to calm down my nerves and perhaps lower my heart rate a bit? Thanks.
Asked by Prot - Thu Oct 19 09:42:51 2006 - - 8 Answers - 0 Comments

A. I would never take any chemical drug from a pharmacy , prescribed by an M.D. Instead, you can buy online the Ayurvedic herbal medicine muktavati, (do a google-search) this will calm the nerves, lower the BP AND slow down the heart somewhat. i really works. for all your health problems., use only Ayurvedic or Chinese herbal medicines - they work & are not toxic. Avoid the MD's like you would avoid SATAN himself. ALSO - you can buy , OTC, from any vitamin store, the amino acid L-tryptophan. Take this with a B-complex when feeling jittery. It will strengthen your brain's serotonin, the calming neurotransmitter. I have shown you the way. Now it's up to you.(229)3779428. May the Lord God heal you.
