A. Here is your answer, you might get pregnant using both medications What other drugs will affect ethinyl estradiol and norgestimate? Some drugs can make ethinyl estradiol and norgestimate less effective, which may result in pregnancy. Before using ethinyl estradiol and norgestimate, tell your doctor if you are using any of the following drugs: phenylbutazone (Azolid, Butazolidin); St. John's wort; an antibiotic; seizure medicines such as phenytoin (Dilantin), carbamazepine (Tegretol), oxcarbazepine (Trileptal), topiramate (Topamax), and others; a barbiturate such as amobarbital (Amytal), butabarbital (Butisol), mephobarbital (Mebaral), secobarbital (Seconal), or phenobarbital (Luminal, Solfoton); or HIV medicines such as amprenavir (A [cont.]

what is the generic birth control pill equivalent to ortho tri cyclen l?
Q. My insurance barely covers any of the cost of this prescription and its $50 a month (for 28 pills) it's a bit ridiculous, I'm only 20. But I'm really happy with ortho tri-cyclen lo. Please help, thanks!

A. There is no generic for ortho tri-cyclen lo, but there is a generic for regular ortho tri-cyclen. Call your prescriber, and ask for a prescription for that medication. Cash price for generic Ortho tri-cyclen range from $9-$28.

When does ortho tri cyclen lo start clearing up your skin?
Q. I'm taking birth control (ortho tri cyclen lo) and am wondering when effects usually start taking place. I'm only on my 3rd day but am anxious for clearer skin/bigger boobs...haha any help is greatly appreciated! thanks.

A. I was on it for three months. I did get bigger boobs! But, that was the only positive thing I had on it. My acne got worse, unfortunately during the 2nd month. I didn't have too bad acne to begin with, and the first month pretty much all of it went away, but the second month, I started getting zits like under my skin. I couldn't pop them, but they were red and big. I got a lot of them under my chin and on my forehead. It wasn't fun. Turns out, it was too low dose of hormones for me. But, that's just my experience. My friend, who was also on it, had no problems with it. Her skin turn flawless and her boobs grew bigger than mine! (And I grew a full cup size!). So, just wait it out. If it clears your acne, that's great, but if it doesn't,… [cont.]

What if i miss 1 day every now and then of Ortho Tri-cyclen?
Q. I have been taking ortho tri-cyclen for about 3 months now and i usually miss at least 3 pills a month randomly but never two days in a row, what are the chances of getting pregnant? Also i'm not sure if i've ever had my period but i always have brownish discharge and sometimes bleeding . Why is this happening?

A. not taking your pills are affecting your body. You gotta learn to remember them everyday. Keep them in the bathroom so they are the first thing you see in the morning and you'll remember to take them.. I take the same birth control and that's what I do. If it's the sugar pills then it's really not a problem but the colored ones are a definite necessary. Hope that helped

Are the same color pills of Ortho Tri Cyclen LO the same hormones and am I still protected?
Q. I am on the birth control Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo and yesterday I accidently dropped a pill on the floor and I thought I wouldn't be able to find it(but i did later) so i took the next one in the pack which was the same color. So my question is are the pills of the same color the same hormones and am i still protected?
Asked by Courtney - Mon Jan 28 16:31:57 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. If you look in the booklet that comes with the pills it states it right there: Yes, as long as the pills are of the same color, it is the same hormone dosage and therefore provides you with the same protection. Just make sure you're taking the pills around the same time each day and make sure that you take the one you dropped yesterday, today.

What are the physical side effects of Ortho Tri Cyclen?
Q. I have been taking Ortho tri cylen for two months now, and i have noticed that my vaginal discharge is much thicker.. it just feels really weird.. is that supposed to happen?
Asked by Ashley - Sun Jul 19 01:10:31 2009 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Part of the way that hormonal birth control like Ortho Tri Cyclen prevents pregnancy is by thickening your cervical mucus, which makes it more difficult for sperm to enter your uterus. As long as you don't have any pain, itching, or particularly foul-smelling or chunky discharge, this is perfectly normal. If you start experiencing any of those last few symptoms, it could mean a yeast infection, which some women do experience as a side effect of hormonal birth control, and you'd need to go see your doctor. If it's just a thicker discharge than usual, though, you're just fine. :)

Im on ortho tri cyclen LO, if the condom breaks can I get pregnant even being on the pill for almost a month?
Q. I've been on ortho tri cyclen LO for about a month but the condom broke, is there a chance I could get pregnant? Or is a week where the birth control starts to prevent pregnancy?
Asked by Ariel - Sun Jan 4 00:08:23 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. The general rule is the bc pill is effective after one month of use but I have heard doctors tell patients that 2 weeks is generally good enough. As far as the odds of pregnancy, I would say they are low but you have to remember there is ALWAYS a chance of pregnancy. There is no 100% effective method of birth control besides abstinence. All methods of bc simply minimize risk--there is no guarantee. The world is full of pill babies and shot babies and condom babies, etc. There are even vasectomy and tubal ligation babies out there!

Question for people on ortho tri cyclen. How long before it helped your skin clear up?
Q. I have been on ortho tri cyclen for almost 3 months now and have not seen a really big improvement yet. I was wondering if it should be helping by now or if it takes longer. I am going back to the doctor soon and need to know if maybe I should ask for another kind of pill. I am not only on birth control for acne. I am on it for many reasons cramps, regular periods, preventing pregnancy, etc. I would just also like to be on one that can also help my skin.

A. I'm on ortho tri-cyclen and it is prescribed for many reasons - be it menstrual regulation, birth control, or medium acne. For someone seeking birth control, and with certain complications ortho tri-cyclen certainly has the ability to help. Even the website for ortho tri-cyclen has information about it's skin clearing abilities... As for how long until your skin clears up, you should start seeing results soon. But remember, bc pills work differently for everyone.

How do people like Ortho Tri Cyclen?
Q. I ran out of insurance under my dad's plan, and recently purchased insurance through the university I'm attending. A. I have never tried Ortho-Tricyclen or Ortho-Tricyclen Lo but I had considered trying Ortho-Tricyclen about 5 years ago and my doctor did not recommend that I do so. The reason she didn't recommend it is because of the fact that it had the tendency to cause spotting. However, I have talked to other women who had some good results with this. I am also going to include the link to a site that might help you find even more information. The link is at:
