Number of Oxygen atoms in a pill of ethinyl estradiol?
Q. A particular oral contraceptive contains 0.044 mg of ethinyl estradiol in each pill. The formula of this compound is C20H24O2. How many molecules of ethinyl estradiol are there in one pill? So i got 8.94 1016 but now how do I figure out these? How many oxygen atoms are there in one of these pills (due to the presence of ethinyl estradiol)? What mass of oxygen is this?

My birth control (desogestrel & ethinyl estradiol) information sheet says to not take vitamin c. Why is that?
Q. I take multi-vitamins. I recently started taking cranberry supplements to fight uti's, and it had vitamin c in it. I started spotting two weeks before my period's supposed to come. And for me, that's odd (I've never spotted between cycles before). So, I was just wondering if my new addition of vitamin c might have affected me in some negative way.

Birth Control- Aviane, Loestrin 21, or Norgestimate/Ethinyl Estradiol?
Q. Hi everyone! I'm looking into what birth control to switch to and was wondering if anyone has tried any of these and would tell me how it worked for you? I'm particularly interested in a birth control that won't negatively effect my mood or cause depression- as was the case with my last birth control (yaz). Also, comments on how these effect weight/skin would also be helpful. Thanks!

How do you know if a birth control pill or high-dose or low-dose?
Q. If a pill contains 0.15 mg of Levonorgestrel and 0.03 mg of Ethinylestradiol (Ethinyl Estradiol), is it high-dose or low-dose? Thanks. I'm doing that right now. From what I can tell, it seems comparable to Nordette, which, from what I've found, has the same amount of those particular ingredients.
Asked by TobiasLuciaStarr - Mon Mar 3 19:35:58 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. You'd be best off looking up your medication online, maybe even comparing it to something like ortho tricyclen lo (which is definitely low-dose).

Are there different types of YAZ birth control?
Q. Or is there just one type? I take YAZ and my sister wants to take YAZ too. So, are there different types or just the one? I'm hoping that there is just one type. My pack says: Yaz and then (drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol). Does that mean it is a different type?? Thank you for your answers in advance.

Is it safe to take calcium and vitamin D while on The Pill?
Q. I am currently taking Yaz (drospirenone/ethinyl estradiol) for birth control and to treat PMDD. I've been taking it for almost eight months and thus far, I've had no unpleasant side effects. I want to start taking calcium and vitamin D supplements, but I'm uncertain as to how much might be too much. Can anyone tell me if the effectiveness of birth control in general, or Yaz in particular, is affected by calcium or vitamin D? Thanks!
Asked by macphisto1126 - Sun Jun 14 03:45:59 2009 - - 0 Answers - 1 Comments

A. think of it this way; can you drink milk while taking Yaz? Milk has both calcium and vitamin D. Does your package insert warn you to stay out of direct sunlight while taking this medication? Sunlight has vitamin D too. You should be okay taking a calcium, vitamin D supplement.

What happens if I take an extra birth control pill one day?
Q. I went to my purse to grab some Aleve, grabbed my birth control pill pack instead and took a pill, without realizing it until I had swallowed (I am very tired, lol). I had already taken one today at my scheduled time. Is this going to mess up my birth control cycle, or will it cause an overdose of hormones? The pill is Trivora-28 (ethinyl estradiol and levonorgestrel)

Does a woman stopping her periods indefinitely sound healthy?
Q. Here's the article: washington - A new birth-control pill can halt women's menstrual periods indefinitely. Called Lybrel, the pill is expected to win Food and Drug Administration approval Tuesday, becoming the latest approved oral contraceptive to depart from the traditional 21-days-on, seven-days-off regimen that has been standard since first birth control pills were sold in the 1960s. But the Wyeth pill is the first designed to be taken continuously. Lybrel contains the lowest dose of two hormones widely used in birth-control pills, ethinyl estradiol and levonorgestrel. Taking the pill daily would let women suppress their monthly bleeding indefinitely. However, unanticipated breakthrough bleeding may occur in some women. ___ Does… [cont.]

A. Why not take 10 or 20 a day, if you think drugs work that way. I'd suggest sticking to the doctors prescription, they take a lot of schooling to learn how to work these drugs correctly.

switching from ocella (yasmin) birth control to something cheaper?
Q. I'm on a new insurance plan that doesn't cover my birth control prescriptions. i'm on Ocella, the generic yasmin right now and it is about 60 bucks a month, which is taking a toll on my wallet. I'm going to the gyno soon and would like to discuss other options with her. What are some other pills that have similar hormone dosages (drospiernone and ethinyl estradiol 3 mg/.03 mg) that will be cheaper? Please help!

Lipo 6X: effectiveness and the pill interactions?
Q. Hi! I am considering adding Lipo 6x to my workout routine, and I am wondering if it has any drug interactions with any oral contraceptive (mainly ethinyl estradiol and levonorgestrel - aka Seasonique). I am in the 18-24 age bracket, non smoker but I do drink. I have had success with Hydroxycut in the past. Are the side effects similar? More intense? Thanks for your help!
