How Should Deal With Stress and Anxiety ?
Q. Stress is life. Stress is anything that causes mental, physical, or spiritual tension. There is no running away from it. All that matters is how you deal with it. This article does not deal with the factors of stress, anxiety, and depression, nor is it a clinical advice. If you feel depressed, you are not alone. It has been estimated that 75 to 90 percent of all visits to primary care physicians in America are for stress-related problems. This is why it is wise to consult a doctor if you are having physical symptoms of stress. However, here are some tips that can help from a spiritual perspective. Torture. Beatings. Loss of property. The death of loved ones. These were just some of the enormous challenges the Muslims of Makkah faced in… [cont.]

What's the difference between anxiety and an anxiety disorder?
Q. I know what anxiety is, I just don't know when having anxiety becomes a disorder. Can anyone explain it to me?
Asked by Hannah L - Sat Jan 24 16:49:42 2009 - - 5 Answers - 1 Comments

A. Anxiety becomes a disorder when you start to worry and worry so much to where you just can't stand it. Like you really can't stop thinking about what you are worrying about! Mostly, shy people have problems with anxiety and it eventually becomes a disorder because shy people don't like being in the spotlight and talking to people and they worry about that. I should know I have an anxiety disorder! I take medication so I don't worry as much and so i don't have mood swings. So anxiety disorders are a big deal and they are where you worry a lot and can't really stop worrying about it, until it's over! Most people who worry too much shake and get all nervous in front of people like something simple like giving a presentation, or like getting… [cont.]

How can I cure separation anxiety in my dog?
Q. My beagle has severe separation anxiety. I cannot leave him alone without him howling nonstop for hours. It causes me stress because I feel like I spend as much time as can with him, but I have a life and have to be away from him sometimes for work and school. I am reluctant to get another dog as many people say because I don't want to risk doubling my problems. What are some good ways to help cure him of separation anxiety, or at leas keep him from howling so frantically?
Asked by Jeff - Sun Aug 12 04:29:53 2007 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments

A. you can't cure it, but you can help control it. make sure before you leave you take him outside on a strenous walk. get a crate and get him accustomed to it. once he's comfortable it will give him a place he knows is safe and you'll return. make the crate a safe and fun place to be. put things he finds comforting in it, as long as he won't eat them. and don't leave him in the crate for long periods. you're best to put him in the crate in a room where you can dissapear from. don't make a sound while he's howling. once he stops even for a second return. do not make a big deal out of it. act like it's the most normal thing in the world for you to be doing. keep doing this for longer periods until you get the desired reaction from… [cont.]

How soon do anxiety pills start working?
Q. I took an anxiety pill, but it wasn't prescribed to me. I took it about 10 minutes ago, is it supposed to already be working? Or am i just imagining its helping?
Asked by Sarahh - Sat Dec 13 17:57:28 2008 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments

A. First off, you should not take an anxiety pill which is supposed to be prescribed, unprescribed. That is dangerous and can harm you if taken wrongly. Please go see a qualified doctor or psychologist to get a prescription if he/ she sees fit. However, generally the effects normally can be felt within a 2 hours to a week, it definately is not instant. And due to the nature of the medicine, the effects will not be obvious, although it will help gradually. You might want to try some relaxation techniques such as deep breathing, or consult your parents or trusted friends. Find out as much information as possible from the internet or you can visit this site which helped me a lot.

How to control anxiety and panic under a time crunch?
Q. How do you control anxiety and panic under a time crunch? Many have suggested to meditate and take time off to relax. But, I start panicking because I am under a time crunch, and I am losing time when I am trying to meditate or relax. It seems to be a double-edged sword! How do I solve such an impossible problem? I get anxious and panicked very easily, and I have lived with it since middle school, but it is getting too much. (And my health is going down hill too). Thanks! I really do not want any type of drug to manage it, however.
Asked by efpp - Sun Jan 20 14:34:04 2008 - - 2 Answers - 2 Comments

A. If you don't want to try Xanax, there are other strategies you can employ. Make a list of things you have to do. then highlight the things that are of absolute importance. Carve up your projects into bite-size chunks. Delegate, if possible. After this time crunch is over, you need to start to address what is underneath your anxiety. Even if drugs are not for you, talking to people about this is important. I keep a fear journal, where i write my fears and then set them aside.

A. It works pretty damn good for me. I really don't feel sleepy at all just better. It's more like your relaxed now that you don't have anxiety. It was a change for me because I couldn't think of a time where I was not panicky except when I was a little kid. I started taking zoloft for anxiety/depression going on 2 months now. I started at 25mg and am now at 100 mg, and I think I'm staying at 100. It is truly amazing for anxiety. Anxiety has made me miserable, but not anymore. I haven't had a panic attack in about a month now, and let me tell you it is great. I can go out in public now without a problem, Heart palpitations from anxiety are gone, and it also helps with my obsessive compulsiveness. Good luck, you won't regret it!

If your fears or anxieties don t really bother you, you may not need treatment. For instance, you may not like making speeches but you do so anyway without being overwhelmed by anxiety. A. Try to force yourself to think about it so much, like think about something else..try talking to yourself, and tell yourself "you can do it" over and over inside your head..and try to make overcoming your fears one of your goals. Just think about this whats the worst thing that could happen if your put yourself out there, not everyone will always like you, but so what who cares about everyone, and if anything happens people are usually so worried about there own problems they forget about others..You can do it I believe in you..Remember u only live once u mind as well make the best of it, dont have anything like anxeity take over your life you gotta to be stronger then that and just think positive, and if you start thinking alot about one… [cont.]

A. Negative emotions (like sadness, stress, anger, etc.) causes your Serotonin production to be low; when your Serotonin level is low, you are more prone to getting Anxiety, Panic Attacks, Depression, etc. Medication like Antidepressants (SSRI - Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor) helps to boost Serotonin level. But there are natural ways to do it without medication. There's this strange herb called "St John's Wort" - it is said to be more effective than Prozac. No, it is not for mild depression only and ignore those sayings. In fact, it does help anxiety and panic-attacks as St John's Wort works like prozac. Other natural ways will be exercise, diet, more exposure to light, etc. The problem is that, even if your Serotonin is balanced... [cont.]

A. I am the same exact way. I have been experiencing panic/anxiety attacks for a little more than a year. It is one of the scariest feelings in the world when you think something is wrong with your heart. I experience heart palpitations very often. I am constantly wondering if I am going to die, but the doctor keeps reassuring me that my heart is healthy, and I am absolutely fine. To answer your question, yes, a great deal of stress, can cause a heart attack, but I don't think you have anything to worry about at age 21. Obeisity, is also a factor in heart disease, but again, if your doctor has assured you that your heart is healthy, then my advice is to take his word. Q. I have terrible headaches, stomach problems, and anxiety from my boss. If I quit can I collect?
Asked by Daisy* - Thu Jan 22 19:01:01 2009 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Sorry but you can't collect money just because you "say" your boss is giving you a headache and stressing you out. There has to be more plausible reasoning under the law, such as if he were sexually harassing you or physically harassing you (as in striking, punching, kicking you etc.) in which case you would have a valid reason to file a complaint to press criminal charges and from there an attorney would advise you of your legal right in how to pursue a civil litigation in personal injury --for instance-- and then possibly collecting a monetary judgment. Those are just a few examples in how to collect money by quitting your job. But if everyone could sue everyone else for stressing them out...either we'd all be very rich or we'd all be… [cont.]

How can I overcome the anxiety that sets in when trying to raise my consciousness?
Q. Lately I've been trying to raise my cosmic consciousness, intuition, and connectedness through meditation and self hypnosis tapes. The problem is that when I actually feel something starting to happen (like a "lifting up" sensation) I get anxiety in my chest/stomach and it brings me back down. How can I overcome that fear? I'm fairly new to all this so any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

She will more than likely start carrying them around and nesting them as she would her pups. This will only go on for a short while and she will get over it. Good Luck and God Bless

How do I deal with anxiety, guilt and sadness returning to work after baby?
Q. I am returning to work in 2 weeks and am feeling extreme anxiety and guilt about leaving my 6-month baby. I haven't been apart from him for more than 6 hours since he's been born. Financially our family needs two incomes, and I am obligated to return to work, but am emotionally not ready. Whenever I think of it, I start crying. How can I deal with this?
Asked by VivAquino - Sat Oct 4 02:48:51 2008 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Just remember that what is good for the mother is good for the child. All involved in the family process have their own needs. Even at an early age children start to understand that they fit in to a larger picture. So getting back to work or your regular routine is really good for a baby. It provides a rythm to their world. Plus after you have picked the proper type day care for you and your child you can feel confident that the socializing they are picking up inherently is very valuable as well. But if these feeling persist or intensify see your doctor or a therapist as post partum depression is real and terrifying. Good luck with work! Enjoy.

(Close your eyes, imagine you are on a beach...the air is cool, the waves are crashing in the distance, the sun feels warm on your skin) Once they are relaxed, instruct each person to make a list of anxiety-provoking situations (ranging from least provoking-->most provoking) have your clients imagine themselves in each situation and discuss ways in which they could respond. Group feedback is great because clients will be able to relate to each other and offer support for the client.
