Are over the counter drug tests as good as the ones hospital use?
Q. My husbang stopped smoking weed 30 days ago. He was an everyday smoker. He had to take a drug test to get a new job and we bought him an over the counter one from Walgreens that he passed right away. Are the ones hospitals use comparible?
Asked by mizmarissa - Thu Jun 5 20:15:37 2008 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments
A. There are different types of urine drug screens that can be used, the first is inexpensive and results are fast. Many companies doing pre-employment will send out a sample that comes back inconclusive from the initial test for a more sensitive test. If he was just having a urine drug screen at the hospital for another reason, they probably will not send it out. Marijuana is stored in fat cells, so if you are overweight, it will take longer to leave your system completely, however, regardless, 30 days is generally sufficient time to pass a urine drug screen. Good luck to your husband.

Whats the best over the counter drug to take if you feel like you may be getting sick, like flu symptons?
Q. I woke up feeling like I am getting the flu, scratchy throat, body aches, stuffy head, flushed, all that. I dont feel miserable yet but, I think its coming. Is there an over the counter drug or something that may help reduce or eliminate the symptons?

A. Assuming you have no allergies, you should probably take a multi-symptom medicine like DayQuil or Robitussin. The label will tell you which symptoms the medicine is designed to treat. If you want specifics: - You want something with acetaminophen (the medicine in Tylenol), for headaches, body aches, and fever - You want something with pseudoephedrine hydrochloride for your stuffy head. - You want something with guaifenesin and dextromethorphan hydrobromide if you have a cough and chest congestion. In addition, you may want to try taking Vitamin C tablets, echinacea tablets, and zinc tablets. Some people swear that this reduces the severity and intensity of cold and flu, though there's not much scientific evidence to back this up. Be… [cont.]

If Plan B is an over the counter drug can I just go get it without a perscription?
Q. Plan B is now available as an over the counter drug so does that mean i can just go into the pharmacy and they'll just have it in the family planning aisle or do i still have to ask a pharmacist for it?
Asked by meg f - Sun Nov 30 17:29:24 2008 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments
A. It is kept behind the pharmacy counter because it is both an over the counter and prescription drug. NOT because it is expensive or stolen a lot. If you are 18 or older you can buy it without a prescription. But you do have to provide ID and ask for it at the pharmacy counter. If you are 17 or younger you need a prescription.

Which over the counter medicines can make you fail for barbiturates on a drug screen?
Q. I had a drug test recently and I failed for barbiturates and I have no idea why. Is there any non-prescription drug that can make you fail for this?
Asked by i wanna know - Thu Apr 23 20:42:14 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. No, there are no over-the-counter medications which resemble barbiturates. There are some prescription medications which may metabolize to become barbiturates. Barbiturates are very powerful and the lethal dose is very low, so they're rarely prescribed and like I said, nothing over-the-counter resembles them because of the likelyhood for abuse. I would go back and ask if you can be retested. Because of the result, you may also look for ways to detox for barbiturates to ensure you do not test positive next time.

A. Pantoprazole is used to treat GERD. There are a few herbs that are used to treat this condition. They are: * Acorus calamus, Sweet Flag * Elettaria cardamomum, Cardamon * Filipendula ulmaria, Medowsweet * Zingiber officinalis, Ginger The cheapest solution is to buy some ginger at your local health food store and drink ginger tea a few times a day. A better but slightly more expensive solution is to go to a qualified herbalist and have them make you a tincture out of some or all of the above herbs.

A. THC ,which is the chemical in marijuana that makes you high, is not in any of these formulations. THC is a chemical that attaches itself to the fat in your body and is detected for up to 30 days. Only if you have smoked a joint, eaten some "special brownies" or ingested marijuana, hashish or the like, in the last 30 days, a urine test come up positive for THC. If you haven't done any of those things...think hard now & be honest...then I would question the results. FYI: marijuana is an illegal substance whether you think it should be or not, that's the law. Life is full of choices, be wise with the ones you make...
